Walker Drilling was started in 2002 by Dave and Kelly Walker.

When the company started, it employed 4 people, and owned 3 rigs. Over the years, the company has grown and expanded and currently owns 17 rigs, and has over 35 employees in its operations.


Though the company is based in Utopia, ON (just west of Barrie), Walker crews work all over Ontario. Occasionally we have crews working in other provinces or even other countries. Walker Drilling primarily operates in geotechnical drilling, environmental drilling, and diamond drilling (rock coring/exploration), though our crews will sometimes be hired for other services.

MANAGEMENT TEAM

Walker Drilling's management team is made up of a diverse group of people with many years of industry experience.

  • Dave Walker: President

    After completing his studies in Drilling at Sir Sandford Fleming College School of Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences, Dave was quick to get hired by Master Soil Investigations. After working for 11 years as a driller for Master Soils, Dave decided to start his own geotechnical and environmental drilling company. As President, Dave has built Walker Drilling from the ground up and he is incredibly proud of all the hard work and dedication of his staff. When Dave is not running the company he enjoys spending time with his family, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, travelling and doing projects around the house.

  • Paul Hargreaves: General Manager

    Paul brings to the position of General Manager a great deal of industry experience and training. A graduate of Trent University and Fleming College, Paul has been working in this industry for the past 15 years. Originally from Barrie, Paul came to Walker with a focus on improving not only our day to day operations but also brings his expertise and experience to expand Walker Drilling Ltd. in the geotech and environmental field. When Paul is not setting up projects or meeting with clients he enjoys golfing and camping with his family.

  • Pauline Brister: Office Manager

    Originally from Dunnville, Ontario, Pauline and her family have made Barrie their home. As a graduate of Seneca College and with a previous career in private security, Pauline has utilized her transferrable skills to facilitate an efficient and supportive office environment. From the moment of the interview, Pauline felt Walker Drilling Ltd. would be a perfect fit. When Pauline is not processing invoices or offering support for the management team, she is often found in the garden or practicing leather crafting in her spare time.

FIELD STAFF

Drillers and Field Supervisors 

Drillers and field supervisors are safety-oriented professionals who are familiar with relevant laws and legislation related to drilling. Our licenced well technicians are knowledgeable about various types of well installations, and diligent about filling out the appropriate paperwork related to well installations.

Driller's Helpers

Our driller's helpers are keen individuals with an interest in the drilling industry. By pairing a new helper with one of our experienced drillers we foster a mentor style working relationship. Drillers teach the helpers all the safe practices, industry knowledge, and hands on training needed to become the best in the business.
