GEOTECHNICAL DRILLING SERVICES

Walker Drilling Ltd. provides geotechnical drilling services to help our clients determine ground conditions and soil formations.

Our geotechnical drillers are skilled and licenced well technicians capable of drilling and installing monitoring wells and other devices, as well as providing a variety of soil and rock sampling techniques. If access is an issue, we have portable drilling equipment that can be carried by hand and used in tight spots, as well as rigs that are small enough to use indoors.

ENVIRONMENTAL DRILLING SERVICES

Walker Drilling Ltd. is able to provide your company with drillers who understand that an environmental drilling job requires more focus and attention to detail.

We have the tools, equipment and training for all aspects of environmental drilling jobs. Preserving the environment and reducing the footprint we leave after the drilling is done is important to us, and we strive to continually improve our performance with every job we do.

EXPLORATION DRILLING SERVICES

Walker Drilling Ltd. provides diamond core
drilling services worldwide.

Our focus is high recovery and accurate core samples, done as cost effectively as possible. Our state of the art, modern equipment is all heli-portable, and can drill from BQ to PQ, using double tube or triple tube systems. With highly qualified and experienced personnel that are adept at using mud systems, packers and down-hole survey tools, as well as operating heavy equipment and working with helicopters, we have the equipment and team to do it all.

DAYLIGHTING SERVICES

Daylighting (sometimes called potholing) is the process of exposing underground utilities for visual confirmation of buried lines. This can be achieved by conventional methods (i.e., hand digging), or by use of a hydrovac.

Hydrovaccing is a fast, non-destructive method of excavation which uses pressurized water to dig down through the ground, and a powerful vacuum to remove the created slurry. The slurry is then stored in an on-board spoils tank for later disposal.

While some drilling contractors will outsource daylighting requirements, Walker Drilling Ltd. is able to provide this service as part of a drilling contract package. This service can reduce wait times for daylighting and increase project safety, thereby lowering overall costs and risks. Walker Drilling Ltd. has 2 trailer-mounted vacuum excavation units that can be made available for your project. These units are also useful under certain project conditions to remove drilling used fluids and/or cuttings from site.

Where sensitive underground infrastructure is involved, daylighting before drilling significantly reduces the possibility of an underground utility strike, creating a much safer and lower-risk environment for drilling projects.

MARINE OFFSHORE
SERVICES

If drilling on water is required, we have the skill, experience and equipment to get it done.

Sampling formations that are under a body of water can seem like a daunting challenge, however the use of a barge as a work platform can make that work possible.

When it comes to work on water, Walker Drilling has several options available. We own and operate our own small barge, which can be easily brought to and assembled on-site. This barge is useful on small bodies of water, tailings ponds, dam reservoirs and other places where the water conditions are relatively calm. This barge can handle the D25 drill or a tripod set-up.

HELI-PORTABLE DRILLING

Heli-portable drilling is required when there is no road access to drill locations. The rigs to do this work must then be light-weight or be able to be dismantled to smaller components so as to meet the lift capacity of the helicopter.
